What is buffalo horn?
Horn is made of keratin, the same protein as hair and nails. Our horn comes from farm-raised domestic water buffalo in Vietnam, and no animals are harmed to make our jewelry. Horn is a natural material that is renewable and biodegradable.
Natural horn ranges from creamy white and translucent honey to striped brown and deep black. Because the color comes from the material itself, no two pieces are exactly alike.
How horn jewelry is made
- Sorting: raw horn is sorted by color, thickness and quality.
- Cutting: horn is sawn into plates or blocks for each design.
- Pressing: horn plates are pressed flat or into curves and bangles with hydraulic presses.
- Carving and filing: the outline and details are cut and filed by hand.
- Sanding and polishing: progressively finer abrasives, then hand polishing, bring out the grain and shine.
- Assembly: findings, cords and chains are attached.
- Quality check: every piece is checked before packing.
What is Vietnamese lacquer?
Vietnamese lacquer (sơn mài) is a traditional decorative technique. Colored lacquer is applied in several thin coats; each coat is dried and polished before the next. The layered build-up gives depth and a durable, glossy surface. On jewelry, lacquer is applied to a horn base to create solid colors, patterns and contrasting designs.

How do you control quality?
Every piece is quality-checked before packing, checking shape, size, finish and color. Defects are covered by a warranty of 3 months from the date you receive the shipment.
How should horn jewelry be cared for?
Keep horn jewelry away from long exposure to water, heat and chemicals such as perfume. Wipe with a soft dry cloth; a drop of natural oil restores shine on plain horn.
